Serving Michigan • 501(c)(3)
My Life Abroad Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that strengthens Michigan’s caregiver workforce through education, workforce readiness, and supportive resources for families— including dementia caregiver education and respite-oriented support.
Programs are provided for charitable and educational purposes and support workforce readiness and community well-being. Training does not provide clinical licensure or replace employer onboarding.
We support caregivers, seniors, and vulnerable families through education, training, and community-based services that promote dignity, safety, independence, and stability.
Our programs serve Michigan residents broadly, including individuals entering the caregiving workforce, family caregivers supporting loved ones, and newcomers to Michigan such as legal immigrants and refugees. Training is educational and workforce-focused. It supports entry-level caregiver readiness and does not provide clinical licensure, medical procedures training, or employer-specific onboarding. Participants are expected to follow the Care Plan and report concerns to appropriate supervisors.
Designed to support training grants, dementia-related grants, and respite/caregiver support funding—while remaining aligned with workforce readiness and ETPL expectations.
Education-focused training that prepares participants for entry-level caregiving roles by strengthening professional conduct, communication, safety awareness, and person-centered support.
Education that supports caregivers and families assisting individuals living with dementia, emphasizing communication strategies, observation, supportive routines, and caregiver readiness aligned to care plans.
Community-based initiatives that promote caregiver relief, reduce isolation, and strengthen family and community support systems through education, navigation, and partnerships.
Programs are provided for charitable and educational purposes. Training supports workforce readiness and does not provide clinical licensure.
When a loved one’s memory changes, families often become the “care team” overnight. The days get longer, the decisions get heavier, and support can feel out of reach.
Our work helps caregivers build confidence, learn safer approaches, and connect to community support—so seniors can remain safer and more supported at home and in community-based settings.
“I felt alone and overwhelmed. This program helped me understand dementia behaviors, communicate with calm, and find support that made the week feel possible again.” — Caregiver Participant
